How much of the week is taught in which language

There is no official figure for this school, and that is worth knowing. The Generalitat publishes a language split, stage by stage, for público and concertado schools, because they are inside the plurilingual programme. Private schools are outside it, so nobody is obliged to tell you how much of your child’s week will be in Valencian, in Spanish or in English — and the schools an English-speaking family looks at first are almost all private. Ask the school for its Plan Lingüístico de Centro, by stage, in writing. Centre 46021757.

Two things it is usually described as, and is not

It is not an "International School". No centre of that name is on the Generalitat's register: Mas Camarena is a Spanish-curriculum private school — private, not concertado — that offers the IB. That is a good school and a real option, but it is a different product from a British or American one, and a family choosing on the word "international" is choosing on a word.

And the older years are not in Bétera. The group runs six registered centres, and the Bachillerato and FP sit in Paterna. If your child is fourteen now, the school run you are planning is not the school run you will have.

How much English there really is

Full immersion at three years old, falling to around 35% by Secundaria.

That is the same shape as Iale in L'Eliana, and it means the same thing: the school is built to produce children who are fluent in Spanish and comfortable in English, not children who are educated in English. For a family that intends to stay, that is the point. For a family that may go home with a teenager, it is the risk.

What it costs

Mas Camarena does not publish fees. We checked its sitemap — 88 URLs — and its archived pages: it has never published a schedule.

We will not carry a range from a comparison site. Ask admissions, and ask specifically what happens at the change of stage, because a school with six centres bills more than one thing.

Who it suits

A family committed to the Spanish system, with young enough children, that wants scale — sports, facilities, a campus — and is comfortable asking for a price rather than reading it.

Who it does not

A family that needs an English-medium education to continue, one arriving with a teenager, or one that wants to compare costs before it visits.
