How much of the week is taught in which language

There is no official figure for this school, and that is worth knowing. The Generalitat publishes a language split, stage by stage, for público and concertado schools, because they are inside the plurilingual programme. Private schools are outside it, so nobody is obliged to tell you how much of your child’s week will be in Valencian, in Spanish or in English — and the schools an English-speaking family looks at first are almost all private. Ask the school for its Plan Lingüístico de Centro, by stage, in writing. Centre 46017778.

Where it actually is

El Plantío is in Paterna, in the district of La Cañada — not in San Antonio de Benagéber, which is where a good deal of English-language content places it.

That matters more than a postcode. La Cañada is where most of its families live, which makes it one of the few schools in the area where the school run is a walk or a five-minute drive rather than a commute. And La Cañada has its own town hall office for the padrón, open Tuesdays and Thursdays, so the administrative side of living there is its own thing too.

What it costs

El Plantío does not publish its fees. Two of the ten schools we checked do the same.

We will not put a range here from a comparison site. Aggregators do carry figures for El Plantío; they are not the school's figures, and a fee taken from an aggregator is the number that turns out wrong in the second year, on the page where being wrong costs the most.

Ask the school, and ask what the figure includes — lunch, bus and the registration fee are where schools in this area differ most.

Who it suits

A family that wants a British and IB route and wants to live within walking distance of it, in a district built around exactly that.

Who it does not

A family that needs to compare fees before it visits, or one that wants its children inside the Spanish system.

Does El Plantío International School have a place in your child’s year?

Places are allocated by year group, not by school, and no website answers that. It takes calling the admissions office about that exact year and getting the answer in writing. That is The Shortlist, €989.
