The number no other school publishes
Shackleton publishes its increase formula: inflation plus 2% a year.
It is the only one of the twenty schools we have checked that does. Everywhere else a family signs a fee it can afford in year one and finds out about year five when year five arrives.
That single line is worth more than it looks, so here is what it actually means. A fee that rises with inflation costs the same in real terms every year. A fee that rises above inflation costs more every year, and the gap compounds. Over the ten years between Reception and the end of Secondary, two points a year is roughly a fifth more in real terms by the end than at the start — for the same school, the same child, and no change in what you are buying.
We are not saying that is unreasonable. Staff costs rise faster than general inflation and a school that plans honestly has to say so. What we are saying is that every other school has the same arithmetic and does not publish it, so a family comparing two identical-looking fees is comparing one number it can project against one it cannot.
Ask any school you are considering the same question: by how much have your fees risen in each of the last five years? A school that will answer is telling you something. A school that will not has told you something too.
The uniform is not published here either, and neither are exam fees. That is universal in this area.
What it costs, and what sits on top

Lunch being included is not a small detail: at most schools in this area it is a separate line of a thousand euros or more, and a fee that looks higher with lunch inside it can be the cheaper one. When you compare, compare the same thing.
Who it suits
A family that wants a British education without moving out to the belt — Burjassot is fifteen minutes from central Valencia with three metro lines — and that wants a fee it can actually forecast.
Who it does not
A family looking for space and a plot around the school run, or one that wants its children immersed in Spanish rather than taught it.
